American Fork Canyon

Well, today we took a drive up American Fork Canyon. It loops back around Mt. Timpanogos, and back through to Provo Canyon. The leaves changing in the fall are truly spectacular. Once again, my pictures can't really do it justice... you just have to be there. While we were there, we took a side trip to Cascade Springs. It's one of my favorite places relatively close to home. The kids (all 3 of them) had a terrific time. Sorry I'm not writing more... I'll just add a ton of pictures for all of you. (The one of Cam getting a drink at the fountain just cracks me up!)

Camping

Well, we took 3 days and went camping down in Moab. We had such a great time! While we were there, we took in Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Goblin Valley State Park, and drove through Capitol Reef National Park.

We were really only planning to see Arches and Canyonlands, but on Saturday, when we were driving home, we drove down to Goblin Valley, then through Capitol Reef. What a terrific day!

I'm not going to write much, 'cause I plan on posting a bunch of pictures, but here's the quick run-down.

Thursday
~Left Eagle Mountain @ 9 a.m.
~Stopped for potty breaks a lot.
~Got to Moab around 2
~Found out that the campground drained their pool on Tuesday (Serayah was bummed)
~Put up tent while kids played on the playground (which was a godsend)
~Drove out to Canyonlands (Cam napped on the way... this was MUCH NEEDED)
~Took a lot of pictures
~Ate at Eddie McStiff's, Serayah LOVED the magician (through that one in for Sheila)
~Went to bed
~Cam wasn't thrilled with the "going to sleep" plan, and really let us know
~Felt terrible for nearby campers
~Got to sleep around 9:30

Friday
~Serayah woke up around 6 (yeah, us!)
~Art got up with her, I slept... life was good for me.
~Got up, ate, drove to Arches
~Took a lot of pictures
~The kids LOVED the Sand dunes arch... (lots of dirt)
~Drove back to the tent, Cam (and daddy) napped
~Drove into Moab and browsed the shops
~Got to bed around 8, without much fuss (thank heaven for small favors)

Saturday
~Got up, packed up, left
~Drove out to Goblin Valley
~Took a lot of pictures
~Kids played for almost 2 hours.. it rocked.
~Drove down through Capitol Reef
~Took a lot of pictures
~Kept driving, and driving, and driving...;
~Got home around 8.

Here's a picture of Serayah and Cam at camp, and another one of the surrounding mountains south of Moab.

Hope you enjoy the posts!

Capitol Reef

We had a great surprise when we drove through Capitol Reef National Park. I'd never heard of it, and it was just beautiful. Here are a few scenic shots. They really can't do it justice. There are some really cool petroglyphs too. The kids were asleep, so we didn't get to walk to the others. These are right off the road.

Goblin Valley

So here are some from Goblin Valley. This is the BEST PLACE EVER! The kids can run around, and climb, and just have a blast. In a few years, when the kids get a little older, this will be the most fantastic hide-and-seek venue on earth! Oh, and the picture of all of us I took using a timer. You can't tell, but the camera was about 45 feet away. I booked it as fast as I could to get in the picture (and managed to make it without killing myself, clutz that I am), so that's why the kids are looking at me... they thought my running was pretty funny.

Flowers

Here are some random pictures of flowers and cactus that I took. Also, a picture of a lizard at goblin valley. I can't believe how well they camouflage themselves!

Canyonlands

Here are some pictures from Canyonlands.
